Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has a tropical, monsoon climate, and the high season is from December to March. Winter is the best time to visit the southwestern part of the country due to the excellent weather. It is best to visit the northern and eastern parts of the country during the low season from May to August as it features excellent weather during this period. The best time to visit the whole country is during the shoulder season from April to September.

Yala National Park

Yala National Park is a great destination to go for nature lovers, and it houses diverse wildlife. Famous for the most excellent density of leopards in the world. Home to the Sri Lankan elephants, many migratory birds, and aquatic birds. The park can found on the southeast coast of the island, and you will also see crocodiles, monkeys, and other critters around the plains of the park.

Adam's peak

Central Sri Lanka's most famous peak is known as Adam's peak. Famous as tall pointed mountain and biological hotspot site. It soars high at about 2,243m, and it is a famous pilgrimage route for Buddhists. Pilgrims believe that there is a pattern of Buddha's footsteps close to the summit. It is a great place to go for an outdoor lover, and you can try to get to the peak around dawn to enjoy mind-blowing sunrise views.

Dambulla Caves Temple a UNESCO World Heritage Site located inside the Dambulla Caves. The monastery dating to the first century was restored in the 18th century by the Kingdom of Kandy. Pilgrims have been praying for centuries in these temples. The cave is 160 meters high and divided into five caves; they are believed to be pre-historic by the locals.

Food to eat in Sri Lanka

Fish AmbulThiyal

This dish commonly found in Sri Lankan, and it is among the most straightforward dish that you can even cook. The plate comprised of fish cut into cubes and sautéed in an aromatic blend of spices, and you will love the burst of flavors in your mouth. The ingredients used for this dish are curry leaves, dried Goraka, oil, curry leaves, large fish, and spices. You can eat fish ambulthiyal with thetipaan or roasted paan.

 

Parippu

Parippu has a rich flavor, and it is prepared using boiled red lentils. The dish is cooked by adding curry leaves, spices, onion, and garlic into the hot oil, and it will then be allowed to cook until it is yellow. The ingredients used for this dish are onion, coconut milk, red and yellow lentils, garlic, and curry leaves. The meal is best eaten with Wambatumoju and rice.
