Dzukou Valley of Flowers

Dzukou Valley, lying at an elevation of about 2400 metres above sea level, is located in Nagaland. The Valley exhibits a fairytale of grandeur which is a feast for the eyes. Its natural beauty, overall flora and fauna in its intricate hilly folds and contours are incredible. The Valley is located on the bridge road of Manipur and Nagaland in Northeast India. Yumthang Valley of Flowers

Yumthang Valley is situated at an elevation of 3564 metres in North Sikkim. It is famously known as the "Sikkim Valley of Flowers." Have you ever imagined witnessing the mesmerising Valley full of flowers at the backdrop of snowy mountains with hot springs and yaks? It almost sounds like a dream, right? But such a place exists in the divine beauty of Sikkim called 'Yumthang Valley of flowers'. Yumthang Valley is a picturesque beauty and magic of nature to stones at its best. Its exhilarating and magical surroundings of zillion flowers, serene river and spectacular mountains make it a must-visit place for every traveller.

The best time to witness the 24 species of Rhododendron flowers blooming is from late February to mid-June. Where wildflowers like Poppies, Louseworts, Primroses, and Cobra lilies and more bloom into absolutely scenic landscapes.

The Valley is closed between December and March due to heavy snowfall. If you plan to visit Yumthang Valley in April, then witness the flowers bursting into full bloom. The Valley is home to Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, which houses the rare rhododendron species. There are few hot springs and waterfalls in Yumthang Valley Sikkim, and tourists often visit it as it is believed to have medicinal healing power. The Yumthang Valley weather stays at 21°C from February till mid-June as the Valley turns into a beautiful sea of multicoloured flowers covering the Valley. It is a sight to behold. One of the things to do is visit the zero point in Yumthang Valley. It is 23 km away from the Valley at an altitude of 15,000 feet, with views of three rivers meeting and snow-clad mountains.   • Permit: As Yumthang Valley is situated close to the China border. A protected area permit is required to visit the Valley. So you must get permission from Gangtok Tourism Office, District Administrative Center at Mangan, or Chungthang Sub-Divisional Magistrate's office.
  • How to reach: By Train: 216 KM away from New Jalpaiguri Junction Railway Station
    • By Air: 222 KM away from Bagdogra International.
    • Hire a jeep or a car from Lachung to reach the Valley.
  • Tourist places to visit : Seven Sister Falls, Lachen town, Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, Lachen Monastery, Yumthang Chu etc.
  • Entry fee: There is no entry fee required to visit Yumthang Valley.
  • Many days required: It takes nearly 7-8 hours to reach Yumthang Valley of flowers.

Munnar Valley of Flowers

    • The nearest railway station is located in Kochi or Ernakulam. Munnar is situated at a distance of 120km from Kochi.

The landscape of the Valley of flowers national park is situated near the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. It is the second core which is initially known as Bhyunder valley. The Valley of flowers is on everyone's bucket list. The 6.2 miles trek is worth doing. As when you reach the Valley of Flowers, you will get mesmerised to witness the wonders of mother nature. The area is affluent in the biodiversity of flora and fauna. Valley Of Flower Trek Uttarakhand

The starting point of the trek is from Haridwar. The duration to start and complete the trek takes five days and six nights. The Valley of flowers trek difficulty is of moderate level, and a steep ascent to Hemkund Sahib will challenge the endurance level. This trek is India's oldest known trek.

Kaas Plateau Satara - Valley of Flowers Maharashtra

In Maharashtra's Satara district lies this spectacular biodiversity hotspot. The Kaas Plateau is one of Maharashtra's famous attractions and a biodiversity world heritage site by UNESCO. At 24 km from Sahara, Kaas Plateau is located in the Sahyadri ranges of western ghats. Kaas Plateau is also known as the Plateau of flowers as it blooms with 850 varieties of flora. The Plateau is an ideal spot for botanists and nature lovers. Imagine yourself in the middle of a sea of flowers that makes you forget everything in the world. One might witness different scenarios throughout the morning and evening as the mountainous region keeps changing into a multicoloured one with many wildflowers. It is best to plan your trip around August to September to witness the Kaas Plateau season blooming into a full glow. You'll find some seasonal flowers in full bloom, like the famous Pleocaulus ritchei or Topli Karvi, which comes to life every 7-8 years. Some of the exotic flora found here are orchids, Indian Arrowroot, Dipcadi flower, tropical sundew and what not. Among the 850 species of different flowering plants, 624 species are listed in the IUCN Red List.

Kaas Pathar

Along with visiting here, the places near the Kaas Plateau are Vajrai, Thoseghar waterfalls, Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary and Kaas lake, which lies close to the Plateau. The Kaas Plateau is in full colour in monsoon with Kumudini or the lotus flower blossom blooming into a full glow of bright colours. The pandemic has been a blessing in disguise to these mother nature's creations as the Plateau of flowers has transformed into a sea of flowers. This will bring a revival change into the biodiversity hotspot in the coming months. The Government has restricted visitors to 2000 per day to control possible damage to the Valley.

  • Best Time to visit Kaas Plateau: Late-August to October.
  • Timings: 7am-10am; 10am-1pm; 1pm-4pm; 4pm-7pm ( Permits are available for purchase on forest department website )
  • Entry Fees: INR 100 for Saturday, Sunday, and Govt holidays. INR 50 on other days. No fees for senior citizens.
  • Famous tourist spots: Kaas lake, Sajjangad and Thoseghar waterfalls.
  • How to reach:
    • From Mumbai, it takes 5 hours to reach via the Mumbai - Pune expressway and then NH4.
    • From Satara, it will take 1 hr to reach Kaas valley by bus. There are buses available at the Satara bus stand.
  • Permit: Most of the days, the permit is available online during the weekend. But it would help if you visited Kaas Pathar to get a permit.
