Day One - Auckland

Day Two - Matamata and Waitomo caves

Enroute Rotorua, a Two-hour drive from Auckland, brings you to the Hobbiton movie set. A significant location for "The Lord of the Rings film trilogy" and The Hobbit film series. You might not be a fan, but the beauty of the place surpasses its association with the movie. The Waitomo caves offer a surreal vision when numerous glowworms light up the cave's ceiling in absolute darkness.

Day Three - Rotorua

Rotorua is the hub of all geothermal activity. With its hot pools, natural geysers and the Rotorua lake, this would be a day well spent.You can also go for a Kiwi bird Encounter.Don't miss out on the Maori cultural show and zorbing. Taupo is at an hour's distance from Rotorua. Besides the aesthetic beauty of the place, Taupo is also a driveway to Tongariro Alpine Crossing. You might recognize the location as another locale from The Lord of the Rings.

Day Four - Wellington - The Capital

It takes another 5 hours to reach Wellington from the previous destination. The city is a hotspot of liveliness with its cafes, workshops, and museums. Make sure to visit the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum and the Weta workshop.Next, you need to drive back to Auckland to board your flight to the Christchurch. The Earthquake of 2011 left an everlasting impact on the city. The city displays souvenirs of English Heritage. Visit the Christchurch Botanical garden and take a bus ride around the town.

Day Five - Tekapo

Visit the enchanting city of Tekapo and the Tekapo lake. The picturesque exhibition of the location makes you want to capture the moment in the retina of your eyes for an indefinite time frame. Mount Cook Aoraki is the highest mountain in the country and offers a diverse set of activities to indulge. Hiking across Mount Cook would mainly constitute the 10th day of your trip.

Day Six - Wanaka

A 2- hour drive from Mt. Cook brings you to Wanaka. Be prepared to witness some breathtaking landscapes en route Wanaka. Take a hike across Roy's Peak Track, indulge in cross country skiing or lose yourself in the labyrinth of "Puzzling World".

Day Seven - Milford Sound
