History of the Butterfly Park Thane
Indeed, this garden is an outcome of the hard work done by Mr Rajendra Ovalekar, who owns this territory. Also, for your information, this nature-loving person has grown a massive range of fruits & flowers here to create a natural atmosphere where butterflies can bloom devoid of any call for meadows. Upon your visit to this place, you'll notice that he keenly gives you an idea about butterfly cocoon, caterpillars, and tells everyone about the delicate features of butterflies.
It gives a sense of proud to know that with the helping hand of his brother and other relatives, Ovalekar created a butterfly park on his terrain in Ovale village. According to him, it is the lively hues and different species of butterflies that persuade him from his middle age, and so he decided on doing something about this. And then he converted his 2 acres of farming ground into a butterfly park. He got persuaded, especially when he noticed the attractive butterflies during several nature tours conducted by the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS).
Apart from this, Isaac Kehimkar, who is the leading butterfly specialist of India, also supported Mr Rajendra Ovalekar to a great extent for making his efforts successful. In line with Ovalekar, in the initial years, he faced a lot of difficulties as he had to grow and develop plants that would offer food, refuge, and sound reproduction lands to the butterflies and induce them to reside there.
Know-How It All Worked
To create this park, Ovalekar started to first plant trees as well as shrubs that inspired butterflies to stay here for nectarine flowers, lay eggs, and breed on the garden's plants. This way, he set a progressing journey in motion that resulted in this beautiful tourist attraction.
What is more, Ovalekar Wadi Butterfly Park is not like other famous butterfly parks all over the world where butterflies kept in mock conditions. Not merely this, but the Yeoor hills nearby are also of great use when it comes to refilling the butterfly pool of this garden.
