Talagad Fort History
The constructor of Fort is not known. Adilshah of Bijapur controlled the Fort in the early 16th century, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj later won the Fort in 1648. In 1659 Siddhi of Janjira had encircled the Fort when Afzal Khan had tried to Kill Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Pratapgad. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj killed Afzal Khan, and when Siddhi got the news, he retreated with his troops to Janjira. In the Purandar treaty, Talagad, and the other 11 forts retained by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj while yielding the other forts. Siddhis later captured the Fort after the passing of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Bajirao Peshwa-I captured Talagad fort in 1735 and brought it under the Maratha rule. In 1818 Col. Prother of the British East India Company captured the Fort. The clothes which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj wore during his coronation brought from Talagad Fort.

The lengthy fortification along the narrow ridge of the Machi is in excellent shape. There are small water tanks cut in the rock to harvest rainwater on the Balekilla mountain. How to reach Talagad Fort
Talagad well connected by transport buses and private transports that operate between Tala, Indapur, and Roha. The path goes straight through the city, a small trek around 45 minutes. The trekking route is easy and requires less endurance. Night halt is not possible in the Fort.
