Matheran is perhaps the only hill station in India where there is complete ban on any type of motor vehicles. This has ensured that there is ensured the noise level decibel are at the minimum. Walking along the lush green pathway is a delight. This hill station is located near Mumbai and is a good trekking spot. Ever since Hugh Malet, the then collector of district Thane discovered Matheran in the year 1850, its popular weekend getaway from Mumbai city.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Getting to Matheran is an experience to wish to encounter very often. Right from the toy train journey at Neral station which inches slowly uphill through the dense forest passing to numerous monkeys on the way. Once you have reached on top you can explore the interiors of Matheran on a horseback. Trekkers choose to walk from Dasturi point. It\u2019s close to 3 hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

During the monsoon and early winter time Charlotte lake gives us an amazing beautiful scenic view. For those living at Matheran the water from this lake is their life line. There is also a dam built at one of the end and a temple.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Mount Barry<\/p>\n

Offer the best view a photographer delight of the vast Matheran plain. Close by one can also visit Governor\u2019s Hill as its Enroute Mount Barry and Panorama Point.<\/p>\n

Not sure if King George ever visited this point, or why it\u2019s called so. But everyone should visit this point. The best time is during the monsoon.
